Moderation Policy

Purpose

This policy outlines the guidelines and procedures for moderating content on Better Taxes for a Better Future and Tax Justice Aotearoa social media platforms. The goal is to maintain an inclusive, respectful and engaging digital space that honours the mana of contributors  and reflects our commitment to on-line manaakitanga.

We view all digital platforms as a welcoming space where we support freedom of expression and encourage open discussion.. This philosophy underpins our approach to social media moderation and is guided by the value of manaakitanga, ensuring respectful interaction and safeguarding the mana of everyone in this digital space.

 

Scope

This policy applies to all Better Taxes for a Better Future and Tax Justice Aotearoa social media platforms, including but not limited to our websites, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube and TikTok.

 

Community Guidelines

We encourage open and constructive discussions, but never at the expense of someone’s mana or dignity. To ensure a positive environment, we ask that all users adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Manaakitanga: Treat all users with respect and manaakitanga. Personal attacks, harassment, or hate speech will not be tolerated.
  • Relevance: Ensure that comments and posts are relevant to the topic being discussed.
  • No Spam: Unsolicited promotions, advertisements, or repetitive posts will be removed.
  • Privacy: Do not share personal information about others without their consent. Be careful about sharing personal information about yourself.

 

Moderation Practices

We will:

  • Use our best endeavours to monitor posts and comments.. We reserve the right to delete or hide posts and comments that violate our community guidelines and/or contain:
    • Inflammatory or hate speech including racism, sexism and religious bigotry
    • Spam, bot posts and advertising  
    • Private contact details of people who haven’t given you permission to share them
    • Abusive or violent language
    • Threats against any groups or individuals
    • Nuisance or repetitious postings
    • Factually incorrect or deliberately misleading information. This includes misinformation that we know to be untrue and might cause harm.
    • Endeavour to protect the Better Taxes for a Better Future and Tax Justice Aotearoa community. We reserve the right to block and mute any contributors who go against our community guidelines.
    • Endeavour to respond to comments and questions about the content of any of our posts as quickly as practicable
    • Respond to user inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
    • Use discretion in assessing whether content is appropriate.

Reporting Violations

Users can report violations of this policy by emailing [email protected] or messaging our platforms directly. We take all reports seriously and will respond to them as soon as practicable.

Consequences of Violations

Violations of this policy may result in:

  • Removal of offending content.
  • A warning to the user.
  • Temporary or permanent suspension of the user’s account, depending on the severity of the violation.

Appeals Process

Users who believe their content has been removed or their account has been blocked unjustly can appeal the decision by contacting [email protected]
