Join us for the final session in our 'Funding a Better Aotearoa - why we need more revenue’ series, this time focusing on education. This session we will hear from Killian Destremau from Business and Economic Research Limited (BERL), who will present their research on ‘New Zealand Public Expenditure on Public Education”, followed by panelists Ti Lamusse, Seletute Mila and Jennifer Crisp. Our MC is Claire Amos.

Claire Amos is Principal at Albany Senior High School and has an extensive career in education. She is also co-founder of DisruptED and also sits on the board of NetSafeNZ. Claire was also a founding council member for the Education Council, Aotearoa, NZ

Killian Destremau is Killian is Deputy Chief Economist for BERL, and has a decade of experience in the public and private sectors advising on, and leading, economic, policy, and strategy research. He has led several economic and all-of-government policies, notably for the COVID-19 response from 2020 to 2022.

Ti Lamusse is the National President-Tiriti of the Tertiary Education Union and lectures in criminology at Victoria University of Wellington. 

Seletute Mila is the principal of Arakura School in Wainuiomata and has over 25 years experience in education. She has a particular interest in Māori and Pasifika achievement and inclusive education, and is currently a member of the Principals Council, National Pasifika Leaders Caucus, and an elected representative on Te Kahu Kiwi, the governance body for NZEI Te Riu Roa.

Jen Crisp is a secondary teacher and Head of Mathematics at Porirua College. They taught in Auckland and Hamilton before moving south to the Wellington region. They is a member of the Post-Primary Teachers' Association national executive committee, and is a fierce advocate for education and their students.
