James Renwick discusses the policies needed for effective action for climate change; and Ilan Noy outlines the economics of such policies, and the role of tax design in addressing climate change.
About James Arthur Renwick CRSNZ
James Arthur Renwick CRSNZ is a New Zealand weather and climate researcher. He is professor of physical geography at Victoria University of Wellington, specialising in large-scale climate variations. He was awarded the 2018 New Zealand Prime Minister's Science Prize for Communication by Jacinda Ardern. James has a book to be released for sale soon: Under The Weather A future forecast for New Zealand.
About Professor Ilan Noy
Professor Ilan Noy is the inaugural Chair in the Economics of Disasters and Climate Change,at Victoria University of Wellington, established in July 2013 with original sponsorship from Victoria University of Wellington, the Earthquake Commission (EQC) and the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). The focus of the Chair is on the research and application of economics to the management of natural hazards, disasters, and climate change.
