The first in a new Tax on Tuesdays series on 'Funding a Better Aotearoa - why we need more revenue'. Over the course of this series, experts from across Aotearoa will share their views about: 

  • the value of public spending to our society and the economy
  • what it would take to adequately fund infrastructure, responses to climate change and embedded poverty, the education and health systems 
  • the need to build a capable state to deliver these public goods

In the inaugural session, Taylor Forward will speak to the topic 'We can have nice things - the value of public expenditure and the economic faults in austerity logics'.

Tayla Forward (Ngāpuhi), is a researcher in economics and political economy, Fellow of the World Inequality Lab, postgraduate studies at the Paris School of Economics, and research associate at Victoria University of Wellington and the University of Canterbury.
